Beth Emet the Free Synagogue is a diverse, multigenerational Reform community with a dynamic approach to Judaism. Our congregation seeks to create a spiritually vibrant, socially conscious, intellectually challenging, and deeply caring environment firmly rooted in Jewish tradition and values. We work closely to build bridges within our own community, with other faith bases communities, and with social service organizations to bring about opportunities for open dialogues and work towards creating a better community, both locally and around the globe.
Beth Emet has supported the Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute since its inception. Every year, on the first Sunday in June, Beth Emet opens its doors and welcomes hundreds of community members and mental health professionals to a day-long conference that centers on important issues surrounding persons with mental illness.
Founded by Marilyn and Larry Cohen who are members of Beth Emet, NRCI offers help, hope and support to those with mental health disease and education to those who are the support system for people with mental health disease.  Over these years, Rabbi Andrea London and Rabbi Emeritus Peter S. Knobel have supported us in so many ways; providing compassionate opening words at the conference and leading discussion groups, but most importantly, modeled candid discussion of mental illness. For over seventeen years, NRCI has promoted social well- being, offering comfort and assistance to individuals and families that are struggling with the daily issues of life.
