Marilyn and Larry Cohen are dedicated to reducing the stigma that for far too long has been a barrier to individuals and families being able to access the treatment and support that they need and deserve.

They established the foundation to reduce mental health stigma through education, research, and community.

The institute was founded in 2002 in honor of their daughter Naomi Ruth Cohen who suffered from Bipolar Disorder and died by suicide in 2000 at age 33.
